The Strategic Internet Marketing Plan
Why Do I Need A Marketing Plan?
The lack of a strategic Internet marketing plan often results in shotgun approaches, unproven strategies, guesswork and resource squandering
before companies begin to see positive results, if they ever do. With Internet marketing, just like traditional marketing, if you fail to
plan you plan to fail. With change occurring at rapid speed on the Internet, what worked last month may not work today. At Commerce helper,
Inc., we strive daily to stay on the leading of Internet marketing. A strategic Website marketing plan is similar to a strategic business
marketing plan, but with a narrower focus (i.e. the Website plan focuses on Internet marketing strategy and programs while the overall marketing
plan encompasses the entire business).
What You Get
With our Strategic Internet Marketing Plan Development service, you will receive a comprehensive, detailed on-line marketing plan based
on the research we perform specific to your industry and your website. The plan explains each Marketing Program and Tactic in detail, including
examples, tips and best practices which we have determined to be most effective for your Internet Marketing campaign.
You will also receive links to specific resources and recommendations for products which may help during the execution of the plan. It
will include competitive research, keyword research and recommendations and carefully chosen marketing tactics based on a phased implementation
plan. The plan is prepared for you in an easy-to-follow, step by step format so that you can do it yourself or, hire the internet marketing
experts at CommerceHelper to do it for you!
Your Needs Are Unique
As with any marketing plan, the online plan includes developing strategies and tactics (also called action plans) that, when implemented,
will help you reach your marketing goals. Our Strategic Internet Marketing Plan is the foundation on which all of our Internet Marketing Services
are based on. In order to effectively execute on any of the Internet Marketing tactics we offer and maximize your ROI, the Strategic Internet
Marketing Plan is a critical component and a necessary first step. Fully understanding your competitive landscape, advertising costs and available
marketing channels will allow us to maximize your investment on any of the Marketing Programs we offer.
Our Method
Commercehelper follows a proven methodology in developing a cohesive, strategic internet marketing plan which ensures results and maximizes
your ROI. We will work with you through our five step process which includes:
1. Gather and analyze information. We will need information about your company, competitors, customers, and other industry
players. This includes all you can find about how the Internet is currently being integrated in your industry with respect to products, promotions,
pricing structures, and distribution channels. From this information, you can complete industry and SWOT analyses as well as identify your
target customers.
2. Verbalize your main challenge(s). Write down the main Internet related challenges you want to overcome. Referring to
these main challenges will help keep you focused while filling your marketing plan outline. You may even want to write your challenges down
in question form - “How do we _____________?”. When your marketing plan is completed, it will answer the question “How
do I address these challenges?”
3. Develop your Website objective(s). The objective addresses the “big picture”. Your objective answers the
question “How will I overcome my main marketing challenge(s)?” in broad, general terms. If your company’s main site-related
challenge is figuring out how to use your Website to help build client business, for example, an objective for your Website marketing plan
could be “To enhance online client service as well as build site awareness and interest with clients.”
4. Create strategies. Strategies support your objective, defining the general approaches you will take to meet your objective.
For example, strategies to support the objective outlined in Step 3 could include 1) improve online communication, information, and education,
2) build awareness of and interest in your company on the Internet, and 3) communicate the Website’s existence and advantages to existing
clients.
5. Choose marketing programs (tactics). The programs are where the action takes place - these are the
things you will do to bring your strategies to life. Marketing programs to support strategy 2 in the above example (improve online communication,
information, and education) could include 1) sharing experience and observations in your industry through participation in discussion boards,
2) offering an email newsletter, and 3) listing/submitting your site to targeted search engines and directories.
Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Services
How does it work?
There are two primary ways to market on search engines: Sponsored Listings and Organic Listings. We provide
strategic consultation and service plans for both options. Both strategies require Keyword Research and ongoing Campaign Management to
be effective.
What You Get
Full Service extensive keyword research Account setup and management Detailed reporting On-going support & campaign optimization
Keyword Research
It all starts with the keyword. In order to properly and most effectively develop both sponsored listing and organic listing campaigns,
it is critical to identify the most profitable key words or key phrases within your industry, and those that most accurately identify the
content, theme and purpose of your website.
All too often, search marketers target high demand keywords and key phrases without taking into account the supply, meaning the number of
instances that particular keyword or phrase is utilized on the web. Armed with this information, we can determine the most “profitable” keywords
and phrases and leverage those keywords and phrases for both Sponsored Listings and Organic Listings.
Sponsored SEM
Through a sponsored listing, you can be high up on the first page of Google, Yahoo and
MSN within a matter of days, and for as little as ten cents per visitor. At the top (and/or sides) of the major search engines such as Google,
Yahoo, MSN, and AOL, you will find something called
“sponsored listings.” Sponsored results provide a quick and affordable way to move your website to the top of the major search
portals for as little as $0.10 per click. Pay-per-click (also known as PPC search engine marketing, cost per click listings, pay per placement,
sponsored listings, payper performance, etc.) is a method in which you can choose exactly what search terms you would like your website to
be found under. You only pay for clicks on your listings.
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Management
Our PPC bid management services can provide you with full service research, setup and daily management of your campaign. Our full service
pay per click services can move your website to the first page and charge you only for visitors who click on your website link. We work with
you to choose and limit exactly what key phrases (search terms) you wish to be found for. In addition, we will monitor the success of each
keyword and ad, eliminating the keywords and ads which are not producing a positive ROI, and building upon the ones that are.
Our setup and management program will provide you with full service extensive key phrase research, account setup, 24 hour maintenance of
your bids, detailed monthly reports and on-going support and suggestions for improvement. No annual contracts and you can cancel at any time
on a month to month basis.
Organic SEM
Roughly 70% of all traffic on the web comes from non-sponsored listings found in the “organic”
results. We obtain these rankings through our optimization services and through our link building services, depending upon your individual
needs. Affordable monthly financing is available.
Website Optimization Services
It is the act of correcting a website to make it search engine friendly and in turn generate a more favorable position within the non-sponsored “organic” results
of the search engines. While we also recommend sponsored listings, a better ranking in the organic listings is typically your best investment
in the long run. Websites that show up organically do not have to pay for residual click-through fees. We strictly follow the guidelines given
by Google, Yahoo and MSN and avoid techniques that are frowned upon such as hidden text, doorway pages, cloaking, re-directs, misleading keywords,
mirrored sites, etc.
Why Optimize My Website For The Search Engines?
Improved placement in the major search engines will open the door to increased traffic, leads and sales. Our optimization packages include
analysis of your website, extensive key phrase research, a competitive analysis, suggestions for structural and navigational improvement,
optimization of your website, manual submitting procedures (including registration to the Open Directory) and monthly ranking reports to monitor
your progress within the top fifteen search engines (including Google, Yahoo, MSN and AOL).
Link Popularity Services
The hyperlink is at the heart of the web - it allows people to move quickly from one document to another or from one site to another. This
simple concept creates a powerful communicates tool that can be harnessed to deliver your business or organizational objectives.
The importance of linking is well demonstrated in research from AltaVista, Compaq and IBM in 2000. They found that sites could be classified
in a number of ways: the core made up of sites that shared links and traffic (about 30%); origination sites that directed people into the
core (about 20%); termination sites that had links from the core but few back in (about 20%) and isolated sites that had few links and little
traffic (about 30%).
This, they called the Bow-Tie Theory: Learning how linking works and how you can create an effective linking strategy will help your site
become part of the core and should be an important part of any online marketing plan.
Directory Listings
While we strongly recommend using all of the above ideas, we believe that directory submissions are the best value and a great way to get
things started. There are literally tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of supposed directories on the internet. However, the directories
we submit to have the highest traffic levels. We target directories with a PageRank between 5 to 8 and Alexa ratings of 50,000 or less (the
smaller the Alexa number the better). These directory listings offer permanent, one way text links that pass on link popularity. The websites
we have tested this on have seen an improvement in search engine rankings within just a few months of submitting to these directories. We
have seen first hand where Google is counting many of these directory listings as valid back links (when performing a “link:www.yourwebsite.com” search
in Google).
Text Link Ads
There are a large number of quality websites in a wide variety of industries who buy and sell advertising space via text links. These are
one-way links where you can use the anchor text of your choice (within reason) and target either your home page or your sub pages. This method
of advertising is not only a good idea to build link popularity, but it can also generate pre-qualified, direct click-through traffic (please
note that we do not work with industries such as adult, gambling, or sites that promote illegal or hateful activity).
Incoming text links with high PR values and strong Alexa ratings are available for anywhere from $20.00 to $150 per month. We know a number
of companies in the travel industry that spend between $50,000 to $100,000 per year on text link ads and find it to be a positive return of
investment. Your industry may be far less competitive. You can change, add or cancel link services at any time on a month-to-month basis.
Optimized E-commerce Selling
Optimized Selling is about optimizing all selling opportunities while building a solid relationship with customers. We understand that
the purpose of your e-commerce website should be to help you boost overall profitability by acquiring new online shoppers, converting them
to buyers, and retaining them as long-term customers.
Optimized Selling is wholly focused upon this, and therefore places the customer at the center of the online selling experience. Everything
your website does should have the sole aim of
“wrapping your arms” around your customers, anticipating their needs, providing the products and information they want, and addressing
their concerns in a respectful, thoughtful fashion.
Optimized Selling best practices encompass effective merchandising techniques, personalization and profiling, campaigns and promotions,
dedicated customer support, reporting and analysis, and the use of dynamic content.
Advanced technology specifically designed to support the Intelligent Selling paradigm makes all these aspects work in concert, creating
a far better website for both the shopper and the merchant.
CommerceHelper will work with you and strategize on combining all these diverse elements and best practices to:
- Increase conversion rates
- Increase average order size and frequency of purchase
- Improve customer loyalty and retention
- Reduce abandoned cart rates
- Decrease customer service costs
- Improve the overall customer experience.
On-going Analysis and Campaign Optimization
In order to run an effective Internet Marketing Campaign, constant analysis and optimization is required. Fortunately, most everything
on the web can be tracked, and CommerceHelper utilizes advanced analysis tools which are constantly monitored so that we may continually optimize
your campaign(s). Furthermore, you will have access to all of your campaign results in real-time over the web. |
